Chapter 11

Maniac was devastated. He jogged around the East End, not looking forwards to seeing Amanda. He wondered what her reaction to her torn up book would be. Would she be infuriated with him for letting her precious book be wrecked? Mars Bar and his gang found Maniac while he was half jogging. Mars Bar questioned him about his running, which Maniac responded to as he 'just likes to run'. Mars Bar tried to steal the book away from Maniac, claiming it was his. To Maniac's surprise, Amanda showed up and told off Mars Bar for ruining her favorite page of her book. Maniac then told Amanda they could fix it, which she followed with inviting him over.

Chapter 17

It was a hot Summer day and all the neighborhood kids were having fun. It was so hot, the kids and teens were all jumping around near the gushing fire hydrant. Maniac was loosening up, he was super proud of himself for learning to be shot across the road by the fire hydrant. People were selling cool treats all around the block. Lemonade, Popsicles, you name it. A little while later, an old man wearing pajamas and slippers had threatened him to go home. The man had called him 'Whitey' because of his color. Maniac had trouble sleeping that night, and decided to go for a morning run with Bow Wow. Amanda had caught up with him and tried to steer him away from home so he couldn't see what someone had written on the brick wall. (F)ISHBELLY GO HOME.

"Ishbelly" was supposed to be "Fishbelly", though someone had scrubbed the 'F' away.

Chapter 21

Maniac had just finished untying the disastrous knot. Cobble's Corner was total chaos. Kids were bouncing of the walls (not literally) and asking Maniac for autographs when Mr. Cobble brought out the certificate for pizza, a reward for untying the knot. Homemade confetti covered the ground. Everyone was yelling excitedly, that is, except for Amanda Beale. She was cowering along the sidewalk snatching up the confetti strips crying "Oh no! ... Oh no!". Maniac was curious, so he picked up a piece of the confetti. Africa, Aristotle. The encyclopedia A!, he thought. He followed the trail up to the Beales' front steps. Only the cover of the book was left. Maniac felt guilty, he hated causing the Beales' this much trouble. He hated the way Amanda's books had to suffer because of him. He hated the way Mars Bar had vandalized the Beales' house. He began to consider what the Can Of Worms man said. Maniac walked, not ran, right out of town.
